Scenes 5.4 and 5.5

Scene 5.4 - continued, Bosword Field

Catesby calls to Norfolk for help and tells him that Richard is fighting like a god rather than a mere man. Although his horse has been killed, Richard walks through the battlefield, searching out Richmond. Richard enters, famously calling for "a horse, a horse! my kingdom for a horse."

Scene 5.5 - continued, Bosword Field

Richard and Richmond fight and Richmond slays the king. Stanley congratulates him on his victory and reveals that his son is safe at Leicester. Richmond receives a list of the nobles who have been killed. He pardons the soldiers who have fled if they will return to him. He looks forward to uniting the white and the red roses of York and Lancaster through his marriage to princess Elizabeth. Their marriage will bring an end to England's long civil wars: "Now civil wars are stopp'd, peace lives again; / That she may long live here, God say amen!"
