CYBERTHERAPY
Can psychological therapy—also called cybertherapy—be conducted successfully via the Net? The issue is highly debated due, in part, to the fact that psychiatrists need to be licensed in any state in which they practice. Another important consideration is that doctors traditionally consider their patients' facial expressions and body language before making diagnoses. If cybertherapy is conducted via e-mail, those clues are lost. However, some advocates of online therapy suggest videoconferencing as a possible solution.
